Bikepacking Buds Beginner rides: New route collection

Whilst England definitely doesn’t have the best attitude to cyclists or cycling infrastructure, there is no denying that there are still some beautiful cycling routes right on our doorstep. And so, this route collection has been designed to provide some inspiration to head out and try some of the best quiet lanes and traffic free routes that England has to offer.

One of our key aims at Bikepacking Buds is to enable more people to be able to get out adventuring on their bikes and meeting new cycling buds. That’s why this route has been designed with new bikepackers in mind. We know that the first time you head out on an overnight adventure by bike can be a pretty daunting thing, so these routes aim to be as chill and fun-filled as possible.

Here are some of their key features:

Traffic Free routes galore

Most take in EuroVelo or NCN routes as well as more localized way marked routes including the Taff Trail and Marriotts Way. All with the aim that you can enjoy your two wheeled adventure without the stress of busy roads and traffic.

Good transport links to the start and end of routes, as well as along the way

Particularly if you are new to riding, the thought of taking apart your bike and putting it in the back of the car can be a pretty scary thought. From disc brakes clamping (I’ve done that far too many times!) to the faff of getting a rear wheel back on, traveling with your bike does have its issues. Hence why there are lots of train stations either on or nearby the routes so all you have to do is ‘roll on and roll off’...

Short and sweet

These routes vary from around 40 miles right up to nearly 80, meaning that when split into an overnight adventure, both days aren’t too heavy. Because the time off the bike is just as important as on!

You can find these HERE: Bikepacking Buds Beginner rides | Komoot

These routes have been tailored to be short and sweet, have great transport links and follow as many cycle paths and traffic free routes as possible - the perfect recipe for a great overnight adventure.
